documentary news, etc.
The documentary has been pushed off for a bit. There is some information that needs to be corrected in order for it to be released. Still waiting to hear back. Hopefully I will get the OK to release the trailer. I’m still pushing for the premier to happen in September, but things are getting in the way, and it’s getting close! In other news, I am in New York City for the next months...

an e-mail I got:
We wanted you to know that this coming Tuesday and Wednesday in Rwanda is the national secondary school entrance examination. Passing the exam is required for entry in to secondary school, so it is very important. Jean Claude, one of the boys at Umuryango, will be taking it. He has been studying very hard and expects to do well on it. Please keep him in your prayers as he continues to prepare for...

a little Rwanda in Philadelphia
Yesterday a friend of mine came to visit me in Philadelphia. While wasting some of the time in our evening we headed to the center city Macy’s. The minute I walked in, I looked to my left and there I cried out “RWANDA!” I saw the Rwandan baskets for the first time in Macy’s… and it was just such a beautiful thing to see part of Rwanda here in America.  Some exciting...

facts about Rwanda →
So, I’ve been doing a lot of research on street kid life in Rwanda lately for the documentary. Click the link above… but I’ll post below what I found interesting from the site: Rwanda’s population is young. Out of the 8 million people living in Rwanda, more than half are under 18years old. Rwanda has one of the world’s worst child mortality rates – one in five Rwandan...

These are a bunch of photos from me, team members, and some people that we know that are still living in Rwanda (aka Matthew Heinz, Theresa Perez, Valerie Peters). Matthew created the site and is uploading frequently. Although internet is a killer there, you sit there waiting for things to load… but he will be adding more. Check it out.

I wanted to share this with you. We were supposed to go this and see the cards being made, but we ran out of time. But I bought two cards while I was there, they’re really awesome. Maybe you will buy some too.  Basically they are a company who helps orphan children make a living by making these cards. Check it out for more information.

Rwandan Airport
I am sitting in the Rwandan airport right now already missing all of the beautiful relationships I have made with the boys at the home. There is so much to think about and so much to take in. Many of the boys told me that they will never forget me. It is a really sad thing to leave. We have shed a lot of tears together (and we are talking tough street kids that are crying). I desperately want to...

this might be the last post from rwanda
so it is great here. I’m sorry to make this short. I haven’t had the time to type updates or anything, but we have one more day at the boys home tomorrow then we will be having a good-bye party at our home in Gitarama for them to enjoy. Then we head to Kigali on Saturday to go home. There is so much to update. God has been so amazing here. People left and right are seeing Christ as...

August 3, 2008 – RWANDA So today we all took a Sabbath. What we didn’t know what today was a genocide memorial day and we were walking around Gitarama wondering why everything was closed and looking like a ghost town. That’s why! But today I was able to go through all my video footage and just organize it all. Tomorrow we go to Akegera National Park to see all the animals in the wild. Not sure if...

from the boys home to the genocide memorial
here are 2 updates. I’ll update about today later. July 29, 2008 – RWANDA Day 3 at the boys home. We finally opened our clinic at the home for the villagers and for the orphans. Today we made it a point to clean the children and adults feet today. Kay, the nurse on our team, said that she has never seen feet like these children before (and she has gone on practically every mission trip in...

3 days of updates
I don’t have time in the internet cafe to update about today’s adventures but I have some things I have saved on my computer that I will paste below. It’s really dark out and I need to get back to our home—-there are no street lights. Enjoy! July 26, 2008 – RWANDA Today we finally went to visit the boys in Byimana. Many of them knew of my cousin, Lois, and asked many...

Murabo! (Hello!)
Yesterday we finally arrived into Rwanda. I don’t really get internet here… right now I am sitting in an internet cafe in Gitarama, but I am updating in microsoft word and will copy and paste what I write when I get the chance.  We just got back from visiting the boys at Umuryango. They are so much fun! Children here are so friendly, I’ve been getting some fun video footage. I...

Well, I am going to say good-bye right here, right now. I just got back from the Middle School Mission trip that is taking place right now as I type this, in South Bethlehem, PA until this Wednesday, July 23. I was only able to take part of the mission trip yesterday and today. I have to admit, I was kind of feeling like I shouldn’t be there and that I don’t know what to do—but...

I have a camera that I can take to Rwanda! It was such a God-given one too… right in my budget, in fact it was a steal! Portland, Maine + other updates
This past week I was with the high schoolers from my church (FPC-Bethlehem) on a mission trip in Portland, Maine. There, various student groups worked together at several sites: Portland Housing Authority, Camp Sunshine, The Root Cellar, Preble Street Soup Kitchen, and Habitat for Humanity. The theme for the mission trip was “Get Real”, where we had students explore about getting real...
